Shout Out to the Slackers

Shout out to the slacker – to the artist moving moments more than money.

Shout out to the slacker – to the at-home parent wiping noses raw & runny.

Shout out to the slacker – to the few-hour sub clocking out the tired teacher.

Shout out to the slacker – the one sitting by when no one else could reach her.

Shout out to the volunteers, the care-givers, the retirees. To the front-porch rockers, the emergency contacts, and the gardener in the trees.

Society needs you, yes society needs the slackers.

Without slack in the systems, small bumps create huge fractures.

A tragedy, a disease, a storm or even a simple miscalculation

Takes society to it’s knees without the slack of slackers in the equation.

Shout out to each of you,

The world needs your flexibility and slack.

This is a finally out-loud thank you

for always having our back.

Support The Spark

Year 2023 Motto

If you slow down enough to truly listen to people, especially children, you’ll find intrinsic sparks.

Rather than mold, coerce, and impede – try to nurture, uncover, and support. Look for the spark, add kindling, and see a generation catch fire with inspiration to uplift the world.

Consider focusing on “Supporting the Spark” in yourself and others in 2023.

Thank you to everyone who has brought kindling to my life.

Create More Than You Consume

Students learn better when they create their educational journey more than they consume standards.

Mental health improves when one creates with hobbies more than they consume media.

The environment is healthier when UpCycle (NorthCycle!) projects are created more than fast trends are consumed.

Life is fuller when you create memories more than you consume moments with trivial tasks.

It’s not an either/or thing – it’s a more than thing. Do you create more than you consume?

Create more connections

Create more experiences

Create more peace

Create more.

Introducing the PEYSU PALS™

2024 Update: The Peysu Pals is now out of print while it is being re-written and redesigned. Check back on the NORTHWIND to be the first know what it has grown into!

Introducing the PEYSU PALS.

Peysa is Icelandic for “Sweater”. These cozy sweater critters are slowly developing into tools for early childhood. Over time they will grow into books, clothing, games, and more that will be both fun and educational. The Peysu Pals are a symbolic team intended to teach young children about abstract ideas like grief while also being the fun and cuddly bunch that they are.
